It’s been a while, internet! I’ve missed you terribly. Well, it’s probably not fair to say that as though I haven’t been spending plenty of time on the internet. Let’s face it, I’m here all the time. But there’s no doubt I’ve been neglecting this website. I’ve been neglecting a lot of things on the writing and publishing side of my life… and it’s driving me a little bonkers. Specifically, I’m driving myself a little bonkers.
Things got turned upside down near the end of last year after we moved and the writing/publishing side of my life was definitely what took the hit as a result. I had big plans, and was hitting big goals that I set for myself… until I wasn’t. It’s time to get back on track!
Once again, I’m getting ready to move, which is mildly terrifying. We’ll probably only be at this new place for eight months. So it’s safe to say that when I’m not working, packing, or enjoying my last few weeks of dog-sitting, I’m trying to learn how to go with the flow. I need to learn to make the best of where I am on any given day (rather relying on routines, which have all gone totally out the window at this point). I’m getting there.
While my main focus is still writing and publishing (more coming soon, I promise!) letting go of dog-sitting has freed my brain up to try and learn some new skills. On top of moving, writing and working, I’ve also started to take some online classes about programming and drawing. Yes, I’d be way better off just picking one and sticking to it, just like I’d be better off writing and finishing one series before moving on to the next… but I’m loving them both too much to give anything up.
On one hand, I need to learn to focus. Pick one thing, finish it, move on to the next. On the other hand, there are so many things I want to do and try and write, that I can’t imagine sticking to just one thing for any period of time.
So that’s where I’m at right now. Getting organized, working away, and picking up the pieces of last year’s publishing plans in order to start to get books out into the world again.
See you all soon!
